Andrew Perez, Executive Director


Andrew Perez (he/him) is a non-profit leader, public affairs strategist, entrepreneur, national political commentator and freelance writer with over a decade of experience supporting non-profit organizations, public institutions and leaders in shaping effective communications, media relations and advocacy strategies.

Andrew steps into the Executive Director role at CASP with a deep commitment to suicide prevention. As a former member and Vice President of CASP’s Board of Directors (2022–2025), he brings not only a strong understanding of the organization’s mission and strategic priorities, but a demonstrated passion for advancing life promotion across Canada.

Since spring 2024, he has led his own public affairs firm, Perez Strategies, advising clients across the non-profit and private sectors. Andrew has previously held roles with government and opposition MPs in Ottawa, worked in the Premier’s Office in Ontario and completed internships at Queen’s Park and on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. bringing valuable policy and governance experience.

He is also a nationally recognized media voice with bylines in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and National Post. Andrew’s commentary and writing have appeared in leading Canadian outlets, and he has been regularly featured on CBC News, CTV News and BNN Bloomberg. His work has been cited in national and international media.

Grounded in community, Andrew serves as President of the Board of Directors at Toronto’s Fife House, Canada’s largest supportive housing agency for people and families living with HIV/AIDS. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University’s School of Journalism, a Master of Public Policy from the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and a certificate in public relations from U of T’s School of Continuing Studies.

A native of London, Ontario, Andrew is the son of public school teachers. He enjoys political history, travel and overcoming adversity.
