Dr. Nicole Santos Dunn is an Assistant Professor in the faculty of Education, Counselling Psychology, and Special Education at the University of British Columbia. She received her PhD from the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Program from the University of Toronto and completed her residency at the University of British Columbia. She is a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia and a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.
For nearly ten years Nicole has been involved in suicide prevention and life promotion advocacy and research. Her research seeks to advance community-driven priorities for everyday wellness and care. She is especially interested in the gendered experience of livability.
Nicole finds herself in this line of work for personal and professional reasons and she is deeply motivated by the possibility of building worlds worth living in. Nicole is a white settler of Portuguese and Irish ancestry and grew up on the Williams Treaties in Whitby, Ontario. She is an uninvited guest and grateful visitor on gorgeous unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm land. When she is not working, she enjoys gardening, cooking with family and friends, and spending time hiking and canoeing.
