Matthew Clark, MB, CD, MBA is a Northern Canadian leader with more than 20 years of experience in strategic operations, safety leadership, labour relations, and community development across remote and Arctic regions. He currently serves as Manager, Nunavut Operations with the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC), overseeing territorial service delivery, facilities management, and occupational-safety coordination across Nunavut.
Matthew previously served as Senior Director, Community and Strategic Development, and Manager of Human Resources with Baffinland Iron Mines, leading community relations, Indigenous partnership development, workforce strategy, and major stakeholder initiatives. He also held leadership roles with Arctic Co-operatives as both Store Manager and Regional Manager, strengthening community-owned business operations and local employment. Earlier in his career, he spent several years with The Northwest Company in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories, supporting operations and regional workforce development.
Matthew is a recipient of both the Canadian Medal of Bravery (MB) and the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD)—national honours recognizing exceptional courage and longstanding service to Canada.
With more than 30 years of nonprofit governance experience, Matthew has served as chairperson, board member, and volunteer leader for organizations focused on homelessness services, food security, and youth development. He is the current President of the Kamatsiaqtut Nunavut Helpline, and a previously trained LivingWorks facilitator who has delivered suicide-prevention training across Nunavut.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from York St John University, along with advanced education in human resources and occupational health and safety. His leadership is grounded in community service, partnership building, and strengthening safe, healthy, and sustainable environments throughout Northern Canada.
