The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP) has been leading suicide prevention, intervention, postvention and life promotion work across Canada for more than 40 years.
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. No matter where you live, your time, skills and experiences can help save lives and bring hope to communities across the country.

Who We’re Looking For
CASP welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and experiences. We especially value:
- A passion for suicide prevention and life promotion
- A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation
- The ability to work respectfully and collaboratively
- Experience or interest in areas like mental health, research, governance, event planning, or community outreach
- Lived or living experience with suicide or suicide loss (personal or professional)
Volunteer Opportunities
Choose a volunteer group that aligns with your interests and experience:
First Peoples Circle
Guide CASP’s work from an Indigenous perspective, advising on reconciliation, suicide prevention and life promotion initiatives impacting First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
Governance Committee
Strengthen CASP’s leadership and accountability by reviewing policies, strategic planning and Board practices to ensure effective organizational governance.
Knowledge Translation & Exchange (KTE) Advisory Group
Help make suicide prevention research accessible and actionable by shaping resources, knowledge-sharing initiatives and awareness campaigns.
Lived Experience Working Group (LEWG)
Bring the voices of those with lived and living experience of suicide into CASP’s programs, events and resources ensuring this perspective is reflected in everything we do.
What You Can Expect
- Time Commitment: About 2 hours/month + optional project work
- Location: Entirely virtual — volunteer from anywhere in Canada with a strong internet connection
- Term: Two years to start, with an option to renew
